The Federal Ministry of the Interior has banned the Islamic Center Hamburg, labeling it an extremist organization. The center propagated an Islamist, totalitarian ideology, opposing human dignity and the democratic constitutional state. It also supported Hezbollah militants and spread aggressive anti-Semitism. Searches were conducted in eight federal states this morning. Federal Minister of the Interior Faeser described the ban as a decisive step against Islamist extremism. The Islamic Center Hamburg had been under surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for over 30 years.
