Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda, has said the government will use the army to control smuggling of sugar after it has emerged that the racket is a hard nut to crack for the Police Force.
Addressing a rally, Mr Pinda said sugar crisis was serious issue which needs stern government had to deal with.
His hint comes only days after he noted that District Commissioners across the Mara region should use law enforcers to inspect the warehouses and sell any hoarded sugar they find.
Mr Pinda said there was every indication that the Police Force has failed to control sugar smuggling, necessitating the use of army personnel.
